Today, CBS announced that Stephen Colbert will make his debut as “The Late Show” host on Tuesday, September 8th.
In preparation for his new gig, the Charleston native recently ended his popular Comedy Central show The Colbert Report after a successful 10-season run. He ill replace David Letterman who has hosted the iconic late-night program for 21 years.
Colbert grew up in James Island and attended Porter-Gaud. His father, James, was the first vice president for academic affairs at MUSC. A library on the hospital's complex is named after him.
