This Saturday, the Charleston Christmas season unofficially begins with the firing of a starting pistol. That’s because at 8 am that day, the 24th Annual Reindeer Run will take place downtown.
The 5k race is for runners (or walkers) of all fitness levels. That includes dogs, strollers, wagons, and wheelchairs. Participants are encouraged to dress in holiday costumes. The best-dressed will win prizes.
Post-race festivities will include music, food and drinks, and visits from Santa Claus, Rudolph, and friends.
Online registration closes at 9 pm on Wednesday, December 3rd. If you miss that deadline, you can still register in person on Friday, December 5th at the Omar Shrine Temple in Mt Pleasant or on race day morning in front of the Southend Brewery on East Bay Street. T-shirts and race bags are available as supplies last.
Proceeds from the Reindeer Run are donated to the MUSC Children’s Hospital and the Charitable Society of Charleston Endowment with the Coastal Community Foundation. Visit the race’s website for more information.
