Wright
On Thursday, We Are Family (WAF) will host its annual Spirit Day Rally and Candle Light Vigil featuring keynote speaker, Chely Wright, the first Country musician to ever come out as gay or lesbian.
The rally is free to attend and will be held at the Unitarian Church of Charleston from 6 pm until 7:30 pm. In addition to Wright’s keynote talk, the event will include speeches from other participants and live music from Sean and Brendan Kelly of A Fragile Tomorrow, The Charleston Vibes A Cappella group, and Ryan Lill.
Following the rally, WAF will host a VIP reception and fundraiser with Wright at the Charleston Day School (15 Archdale Street). A suggested donation of $20 will grant you admission to the reception. This portion of the evening will include music, food, and beer and wine.
Spirit Day is a global event that encourages everyone to stand-up against bullying and show their support for LGBT youth. You can learn more about it from GLAAD’s website.
WAF is a nonprofit organization that provides support and leadership development opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, and straight ally youth
