Hootie & The Blowfish guitarist Mark Bryan released a new solo single as his Chucktown Music Group prepares for August’s Homegrown Weekend.
The new song, “Only Love Can Satisfy,” is already available to download and has been chosen as the first “Monthly Music Release” by 1770 Records, the College of Charleston’s student run record label.
“I've written a song that I couldn't have written when I was a younger, more selfish person,” Bryan said. “Eventually you realize that a humble approach always pays off in the long run; even through anger and pain…’Only Love Can Satisfy’.”
Meanwhile, Bryan’s Chucktown Music Group (CtMG) will be setting up camp at the free Homegrown Family Day on August 9th. The event begins at 10 am and features live music, food vendors, activity stations, freebies, and much more. Plus, CtMG will be giving out tickets to that night’s sold-out show featuring Drivin & Cryin’, Edwin McCain, and Hootie & The Blowfish. Five pairs of tickets will be given away promptly at 10:30 am. You must be present to win.
CtmG also had a hand in the event’s live music lineup. Bryan and his partner Ashley Flowers wanted to showcase some of the musicians that CtmG has worked with and they came up with the following schedule:
- 11 am: Chris Holly
- 11:45 am: McKenna Andrews
- 12:30 pm: Susto
- 1:30 pm: Kylie Odetta
- 2:15: Wayne Graham
- 3:15 pm: Elise Testone
While you wait for the Homegrown Weekend to finally get here, be sure to download even more songs from Bryan here.
