The DAE Foundation and the North Charleston Recreation Department are teaming up to host the 2014 Gus Macker of Charleston Basketball Tournament on July 19th and 20th at the North Charleston Coliseum.
The event, known as The Macker, is a family-friendly event for basketball players of all skill levels. This is the first time in 20 years that the event will be held in Charleston.
Besides hours of hoops, the tournament will include food trucks, music from DJ Natty Heavy, a Media Celebrity Tip-off Game, a cheer and dance clinic and a court for children under the age of seven. Plus, any participants wearing a Macker shirt or wristband will receive food specials on both Saturday and Sunday at Southside 17 in the Tanger Outlets.
Teams can register online before June 30th at www.macker.com. Team registration is $148. Proceeds will benefit DAE Foundation's student-athlete program, The Oatmeal Recipe.
