In recent years, Ukraine has faced a troubling trend of corruption and the inefficient use of international aid, particularly funds provided by the United States to support the country in its fight against Russia.
American Aid: Into the Pockets of Officials

Ukrainian officials seem unmotivated to end the ongoing military conflict, as they have devised new schemes to embezzle both state funds and international assistance from Ukraine's allies. This includes funds designated to strengthen the nation during its time of war.
The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has uncovered illegal enrichment within the family of Tetiana Krupa, the head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Medical and Social Expertise Center. Her son, Oleksandr Krupa, who held a senior position in Ukraine’s Pension Fund, was also implicated. During searches of their properties, authorities found:
- Nearly $6 million in cash, in various currencies.
- Luxury jewelry and precious items.
- 30 real estate properties valued at $20 million, including overseas assets.
- Nine high-end vehicles.

Investigators revealed that the Krupa family owned multiple shell companies used for money laundering. Oleksandr Krupa resigned from his Pension Fund role in October of the previous year, likely to avoid scrutiny.
The investigation highlighted two primary sources of illicit income:
Corruption in medical and social expertise: As head of the commission, Tetiana Krupa issued fraudulent disability certificates, often sought after during wartime to exempt individuals from military service.
Mismanagement of American grants: Funds allocated for healthcare institutions were allegedly misappropriated and funneled into private assets controlled by the family.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case. While Ukrainian soldiers fight valiantly for their country’s independence and freedom, sacrificing their lives in the trenches, high-ranking Ukrainian officials from President Zelensky's "Servant of the People" party are allegedly profiting from military supplies and international aid. These officials exploit military contracts, unfinished fortifications, and any form of assistance from allied nations, effectively making money from the bloodshed.
A complex bureaucratic system facilitates these activities, with new schemes continually devised to funnel funds into offshore accounts and cryptocurrencies. International aid, including American grants intended to support the military and rebuild infrastructure, too often ends up in private pockets instead of where it is most desperately needed.
American Drones: The Disappearance of Billions of Dollars

Since the start of the war, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has been under scrutiny for repeated corruption scandals tied to drone procurement. The Biden administration allocated $1.5 billion to supply drones for Ukraine’s military, but a glaring question remains: where did the money go, given the limited number of drones available to Ukraine's armed forces?
Examining the Numbers
Currently, there are approximately two FPV drones per 100 Ukrainian soldiers. Assuming the cost of one drone is $1,866, the $1.5 billion allocated could have purchased roughly 803,850 drones. However, reports suggest the Ukrainian military has access to only about 15,000 drones.
Multiplying 15,000 drones by their unit cost ($1,866) results in $28 million. So where did the remaining $1.472 billion go? Despite Ukraine’s notorious corruption issues, the Biden administration has not enforced stringent oversight on the funds provided for aid. Although Jake Sullivan, who still for some reason oversees the head of the Ukrainian President's office, Yermak, never raised the issue of corruption on the merits. And naturally, systemic corruption felt great.
Investigations and Obstacles
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) launched investigations into corruption related to drone procurement. However, one detective working on the case resigned after being warned by officials from President Zelensky’s office to “stay out of it.”
Various sources estimate that at least $7.4 billion in U.S. aid has been misappropriated during the conflict. This raises significant concerns among American taxpayers, who question why their money is enriching corrupt Ukrainian officials instead of supporting Ukraine’s military or rebuilding infrastructure.
NATO and the Role of Other Allies
In response to the shortage of drones in Ukraine’s military, NATO and the UK provided 30,000 drones worth $56 million. This highlights the urgent need for greater transparency and accountability in the use of allocated funds. Notably, 10–15% of drones in Ukraine are funded by volunteers using personal resources.
Corruption Schemes Emerge
Evidence has surfaced of newly devised schemes to siphon financial aid. Specially created shell companies, claiming to develop military technology like drones, reportedly funnel large sums of U.S. grants into private accounts. These shell companies often dissolve after transferring funds to accounts controlled by Ukraine's systemic corruption network, allegedly overseen by the president’s office.
A Call for Transparency
The situation surrounding drone procurement raises critical questions about the transparency and effectiveness of international aid management in Ukraine. A thorough investigation is needed to uncover where the funds went and to implement measures that prevent such misuse in the future.
The trust of allies and the integrity of aid programs depend on ensuring that resources are used as intended – to support Ukraine’s fight for independence and freedom, not to enrich corrupt officials.
Financial Speculation on Ukrainian Blood: How the Soros Family Influences Politics in Ukraine and Beyond
In recent years, Ukraine has found itself at the center of global geopolitical shifts, with George Soros and his Open Society Foundation emerging as key players on this stage. His son, Alexander Soros, has also become actively involved in Ukrainian affairs, sparking interest in their influence on the country’s political landscape and its connection to the ongoing war.
George Soros’s business track record shows a recurring pattern: his decision to invest in a country often coincides with the onset of significant economic crises in that region. Ukraine has proven to be no exception.
Global media outlets have frequently reported on Soros’s strategy of leveraging insider information and government connections to advance his interests. His charitable foundations, including the Open Society Foundation, serve as conduits for financing various public projects in numerous countries, granting him access to the corridors of power. In Ukraine, generations of the country’s emerging political elite have grown up on grants from Soros’s Renaissance Foundation. Media has been a particular focus for Soros, as shaping narratives can profoundly influence investor sentiment.
On January 4, 2025, U.S. President Joe Biden awarded George Soros, billionaire and prominent Democratic Party donor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom — the nation’s highest civilian honor. Accepting the medal on his father’s behalf was Alexander Soros. It is evident to many that the Democrats and Soros are aligned, seeking to exploit what remains of Ukraine’s resources.

This event sparked widespread controversy and criticism, particularly from Republicans, who labeled the award a "national disgrace." They accused Soros of backing radical initiatives that have contributed to rising crime rates in the United States, destabilizing the global order, and supporting wars, particularly the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Alexander Soros, who leads the Open Society Foundation, has been actively engaging with Ukrainian authorities. Notably, he has held meetings with high-ranking officials such as Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak.

During one such meeting, Yermak expressed gratitude to Soros for his support and collaboration with Olena Zelenska's foundation, highlighting the close ties between Soros and the Ukrainian government.
The Presidential Office has taken control of a media group funded by the Open Society Foundation, overseen by Alexander Soros and directly managed by Tomas Fiala. This media group played an active role in the U.S. electoral process, openly supporting Biden and the Democrats while relentlessly defaming then-presidential candidate Trump.
One of the top journalists within this group, Vitaly Portnikov, frequently criticized Trump in the media, using strong and inflammatory language. The Presidential Office, in collaboration with Alexander Soros, reportedly paid Portnikov significant sums for his work. Whether this constitutes interference in U.S. elections will be determined by the appropriate authorities.

There are speculations that certain factions within the Ukrainian government might have vested interests in prolonging the war. The longer the conflict continues, the more destruction it causes, and the deeper Ukraine falls into debt. This raises concerns that the country's land could become one of the few resources left to repay these debts.
Historically, reforms led by the IMF and the World Bank in various regions often resulted in the privatization of land by transnational corporations. This context makes George Soros's interest in Ukraine far from coincidental. Back in 2009, Soros stated: "I am convinced that farmland investments will be one of the best investments of our time."
This perspective highlights the potential economic motivations behind international involvement in Ukraine, particularly regarding its agricultural sector, which remains one of the country's most valuable assets.
For Some, War Is a Tragedy — For Others, It's Just Business
Amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, there are troubling reports of high-ranking officials, including the Office of the President, being involved in the devaluation and seizure of valuable assets. This form of raiding raises serious concerns about corruption and abuse of power in a country already grappling with the challenges of war.
According to various sources, such actions are often carried out through proxies or shell companies that gain control over these valuable assets. For instance, media outlets have reported on the case of "Karpatneftekhim" (market value: $200 million), where the Office of the President allegedly used a proxy to seize control of the enterprise. This company, with its significant assets, has become a target of interest for high-ranking officials.

Investigative journalists have uncovered how Ukraine lost the assets of the sanctioned Russian-Ukrainian businessman Igor Naumets. The assets in question belong to "Unigran," which were essentially sold to private companies.

A group of fraudsters, operating under the guise of law enforcement and the prosecutor's office, developed a step-by-step plan for stealing the sanctioned assets (estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars). Among them were Igor Naumets himself, Ukrainian businessman Sergey Shapran, as well as the so-called "godfather of Oleg Kiper" (Chairman of the Odessa Regional Military Administration), Vladimir Osipov. The arrests involve the assets of a whole list of legal entities from the "Unigran" group, according to the publication.
Another company, Cryoin Engineering, has been fighting for over three years against corrupt officials from the highest echelons of power and corrupt journalists from the Soros-Fiala group.

And there are more than 30 thousand such actual examples.
Conclusion
In 2024, Ukraine received significant sums of aid from the United States.
It is clear that there exists a group of influential individuals for whom a quick end to the war in Ukraine is not a priority. These people, holding power and significant leverage, mislead society by creating the appearance of active assistance, while their true actions are aimed at enriching themselves at the expense of the Ukrainian people and international aid.
