Toby, in partnership with the South Carolina Aquarium, invites the community to come together to protect the beaches and waterways that make the Edge of America so special during this global event, bringing together volunteers, conservation organizations, community leaders, and ocean advocates for an afternoon of education, awareness, and hands-on cleanup efforts. The event will feature guest speakers, conservation partners, and a community-wide beach and roadside cleanup designed to help preserve the natural beauty of Folly Beach and the surrounding coastal environments. Recognized by the United Nations as one of the international coastal communities dedicated to coastal cleanup efforts and ocean education, Folly Beach continues to play an important role in global conservation initiatives.
“World Oceans Day is about bringing our community together to protect and preserve the coastline that makes Folly Beach so special,” said Vanessa Oltmann. “We are proud to partner with organizations and volunteers who are passionate about keeping our beaches clean while educating future generations about the importance of ocean conservation.”
Volunteers participating in the cleanup will receive wristbands for special discounts from participating Folly Beach businesses from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. following the event. A group photo will take place at Tides Beachside at 6 p.m. before participants continue the celebration at after parties hosted by Pinky’s on the Beach and Koko’s on the Pier, where volunteers will receive 10% off food menus with wristbands. Specialty Tito’s Vodka-themed ocean and beach cocktails will also be featured throughout World Oceans Day.
Community members, visitors, families, and volunteers of all ages are encouraged to participate in this meaningful day dedicated to protecting Folly Beach and bringing the community together in support of cleaner beaches and healthier oceans.
