State Representative Jermaine Johnson (D-Hopkins) has announced the second leg of his statewide community engagement tour entitled “Community Check-Ins.” Rep. Johnson has already visited the following 10 counties: Richland, Lexington, Sumter, Chester, Florence, Orangeburg, Kershaw, Aiken, Spartanburg and Newberry.
Beginning next week, Rep. Johnson will follow up with Jasper, Charleston, Colleton, Clarendon, Dorchester, Greenville, Hampton, Marlboro, McCormick and York.
“It's time for communities to not only recognize their collective power, but it's time for communities to know someone cares," Rep. Johnson said. "For far too long our elected officials have sat comfortable in their seats without actually doing any work. That is about to change.”
The events are an opportunity for community members to bring their communal problems and ideas for solutions to local and state elected officials. Some of the ideas presented will have the opportunity to be transcribed into a bill which will then have an opportunity to become state law.
The Community Engagement Tour Kicks off at 6 pm on August 12th at the TE McClary fellowship hall located at 710 Main Street, Hardeeville.
