U.S. Olympian Christopher Eubanks (pictured) and a former Top 50 ATP player J.J. Wolf are headlining the Lowcountry’s only men’s professional event that will kick off Sunday. LTP Mount Pleasant will host the ATP Challenger from Sept. 22 to Sept. 29, offering local tennis fans a unique opportunity to see high-level men’s tennis in their backyard.
"We are thrilled to bring men’s professional tennis to the Lowcountry," said Patrick Hieber, tournament director at LTP. "This tournament gives our community the chance to see some of the best players in the world compete, and it’s a rare opportunity to enjoy men’s professional tennis up close in Charleston."
One of the tournament's headliners is Christopher Eubanks, an Olympian who achieved a career-high ranking of World No. 29 in 2023. Eubanks has also expanded his career into tennis commentary, where he’s been praised for his engaging style and expert insights. Eubanks made his Olympic debut in Paris in 2024 and continues to be a dynamic presence both on and off the court. "Even though Chris has faced ups and downs recently, his charisma and athleticism make him one of the most exciting players to watch," Hieber said. "With his booming serve and sharp tennis mind, he remains a fan favorite both in the booth and on the court."
Also joining the field is J.J. Wolf, a former Ohio State standout known for his fierce play and distinctive hairstyles. Wolf, who reached a career-high ranking of No. 39 in early 2023, made headlines with his fourth-round appearance at the Australian Open. “J.J. brings passion and grit to every match,” Hieber added. "He’s someone who leaves it all on the court and fans will really connect with his energy."
The tournament will also feature rising star Learner Tien, a finalist at both the Australian Open and U.S. Open juniors in 2023, who just reached a career-high ranking this week. Additionally, Brandon Holt, son of tennis legend Tracy Austin, will compete, adding another layer of excitement for tennis fans.
LTP Academy standout player Sawyer Severance will take part in the event. Severance, a five-star recruit, has been a part of LTP Academy since childhood and has made significant strides on the junior tennis circuit.
“It’s been a privilege to coach Sawyer from such a young age and watch him develop into the player he is today,” said Hieber. “Seeing him compete alongside some of the top players in the world, right here at LTP, is a special moment for both him and our entire community.”
Matches begin at 10 a.m. from Sunday through Thursday, with an 11 a.m. start on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are free and schedule information is available online, with daily sessions offering fans a chance to witness top-level tennis in a family-friendly atmosphere.
