An X Games medalist, Hawaiian vibes, skating action and a lot of fun are coming to SK8 Charleston in May. The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission’s SK8 Charleston skate park will host two special events open to the public: Meet & Skate with Mitchie Brusco on Friday, May 2, and the annual Luau and Bowl Jam on Saturday, May 17.
On May 2, 14-time X Games medalist Mitchie Brusco will visit SK8 Charleston for a meet and skate from 5 - 9 p.m. The public is invited to stop by the park to chat with Mitchie, get autographs and enjoy some time skating in this premier skate park. The Meet & Skate will be free with regular park admission of $3 per skater (free for annual passholders and spectators).
Then on Saturday, May 17, SK8 Charleston’s annual Luau and Bowl Jam will take place from 6 – 8:30 p.m. The Luau is a Hawaiian-themed community event offering skateboarding competitions alongside food and music. Vendors will be on site, live music will be provided by Anergy and local food truck Shaka Shrimp will be on site selling its Hawaiian style dishes.

Event-goers will witness some of the best skaters in the area compete on the bowls of this premier skate park. Contests will run from 6 – 8:30 p.m. (see a schedule below). The competition will be judged by a variety of local skateboarders from the Charleston community, with great prizes and giveaways. Hawaiian-inspired clothing is encouraged.
