On October 24th, Short Court, a line of heritage-inspired racquet sports equipment and apparel, will open its first concept store in The Shops at Charleston Place. Complete with a custom pickleball court, free paddle monogramming and regripping station, and walls of USA Pickleball-approved paddles, the store will be a local apparel destination for all racquet sport enthusiasts.
Founded by two Charleston friends, Ned Johnson and Neil Thomson, who are doubles partners in tennis, squash opponents, and now pickleball addicts, the brand honors the tradition of “all whites” tennis attire infused with a modern flair. The store will stock an assortment of pickleball and padel paddles, pickleball nets, tote bags, hats, gifts, and apparel for men and women. The brand encourages families and friends to come and test the various paddle styles while playing on a custom court constructed for the space.
“We hope to tell our story and approach to pickleball through this store experience making the space feel like our ideal version of a tennis hut or courtside clubhouse. We love the idea of getting outside to play pickleball - whether in your driveway or at your club this sport is accessible to all at any time,” says co-founder Neil Thomson. “Embracing the joys of social sports is at the core of why we started this brand,” adds co-founder Ned Johnson.
