Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Myrtlewood Golf Club, a 36-hole Founders Group International (FGI) property, will host the 4th Annual Myrtlewood Golf Tournament on October 9, 2024, to benefit Make-A-Wish South Carolina.
This year’s event will be played on the PineHills Course, an Arthur Hills design that recently completed a comprehensive bunker renovation project. The tournament has raised nearly $30,000 to date, helping grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses across South Carolina.
The event will kick off with registration and breakfast at 8:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. The tournament will utilize a Captain’s Choice format, and participants can look forward to a day filled with golf, camaraderie, and opportunities to win exciting prizes through raffles, hole contests, and putting challenges.
A new and exciting development for this year’s event is the participation of Founders Group International, Myrtle Beach’s largest golf course ownership group. To build on the impact of the Myrtlewood Senior Men's Golf Association, which started the event in 2020, FGI will hold a round-up campaign at all 21 of their courses from September 1 through September 30, 2024. The funds raised through this campaign will be presented to Make-A-Wish South Carolina during the tournament.
“There is no better feeling than that of giving. Our Myrtlewood Senior Men's Golf Association is proud to again host the 2024 Myrtlewood Golf Tournament benefiting Make-A-Wish South Carolina. What originally started in 2020 as a members-only event is now a community-wide effort focused on giving back. We are excited by the support we have received and, by extension, the funding we will provide to grant even more wishes for children facing critical illnesses in South Carolina,” said Chris Lovorn, Board Secretary and Treasurer of the Myrtlewood Senior Men’s Golf Association and Make-A-Wish South Carolina Board Member.
"We are thrilled to announce the 4th annual golf tournament in partnership with the Myrtlewood Senior Men’s Golf Association. We deeply appreciate everyone who generously donates their time, money, and passion to make this event a success," said Kea Wade, Corporate & Community Engagement Manager of Make-A-Wish South Carolina. "Their dedication to the power of a wish is truly inspiring. Wishes can't be fulfilled without the support of caring individuals, and we are incredibly grateful to the Grand Strand community for their continued support in helping change the lives of local children with critical illnesses."
"There are few things in life more difficult than watching a child battle illness, and Founders Group International is proud to assist Make-A-Wish by hosting the Myrtlewood Golf Tournament and our September 'round-up' campaign," said Founders Group International President Steve Mays. "We look forward to raising money to help grant wishes for children along the Grand Strand and throughout South Carolina."
The Myrtlewood Golf Tournament has grown significantly over the past five years, both in terms of participation and funds raised. With the continued support of the Grand Strand community, this year’s event aims to surpass previous records, bringing hope, strength, and joy to more children and their families.
