Kiawah Island caddie Henry McGannon has launched Holdout Golf Threads, a Charleston-based golf apparel brand focused on producing its clothing in the United States.
McGannon, who lives on Johns Island and works as a caddie at The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, spent the past two years developing Holdout’s first collection and building a domestic supply chain.
The process begins with organic cotton grown in Texas and includes U.S.-based spinning, knitting, dyeing, labels, thread, patternmaking and cut-and-sew production.
McGannon said developing the first collection required more than $10,000 of his own money, as well as relationships with manufacturers and suppliers across the country. The development process included seven prototypes of one garment before reaching the finished design.
McGannon’s connection to the Charleston golf community extends beyond his work at The Ocean Course. A Johns Island resident, he is also a frequent player at the Charleston Municipal Golf Course.
After two years of development, McGannon recently launched Holdout Golf Threads’ first collection through Kickstarter.
The crowdfunding campaign will help bring the brand’s American-made golf apparel to market.
More information about Holdout Golf Threads and its first collection is available through the brand’s Kickstarter campaign.
