Charleston is preparing for one of its most unique sporting events of the summer as Holy City Fights: Summer Knockout makes its debut on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, at Cannon Distillery.
Unlike traditional boxing events featuring professional athletes, Holy City Fights showcases local men and women from across the Lowcountry who have committed to months of training for the opportunity to compete in front of friends, family, co-workers and the Charleston community.
More than 100 aspiring fighters have expressed interest in competing, with the official fight card set to be announced in the coming weeks.
"There's something special about watching someone from your own community step into the ring," said Jeffrey Booth, founder of Holy City Fights and Red Devil Events. "These aren't professional fighters; they're teachers, business owners, nurses, bartenders, fitness enthusiasts and everyday Charlestonians who challenged themselves to do something extraordinary. Their stories are what make this event so exciting."
The event will benefit Hurricane Boxing, a Charleston-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing youth with mentorship, discipline and opportunities through the sport of boxing.
Doors open at 4 p.m., with the first bout beginning at 5 p.m. Guests can expect an energetic production complete with walkout music, ring announcers, lighting effects, food and beverages, VIP experiences, and an atmosphere typically reserved for professional fight nights.
Summer Knockout is co-produced by Red Devil Events, the award-winning Charleston event company behind some of the region's most recognizable experiences, including The Barbie Party, Casino Royale, Pickle Palooza, Day Club and numerous other large-scale community events.
