The Charlotte Hornets will award a $25,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Crescent Region on Saturday, Oct. 4, ahead of their preseason game against the Oklahoma City Thunder at the North Charleston Coliseum.
The donation, made through the Charlotte Hornets Foundation, will fund a pop-up computer lab to expand digital access, support AI-enhanced tutoring and empower more than 1,000 students in Charleston and Dorchester counties.
To celebrate the grant, a check presentation will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Bridge View Elementary Charter School in North Charleston. Participants will include Hornets President of Business Operations Shelly Cayette-Weston, players Moussa Diabate and Liam McNeeley, and North Charleston Mayor Reggie Burgess.
On Sunday, the Hornets will host a Hoops Youth Clinic at Meeting Street Academy for Boys & Girls Clubs participants. In addition, the organization has donated more than 750 tickets to Charleston-area nonprofits for the preseason matchup against Oklahoma City.
