The Charleston Battery announced Monday the slate of initial roster updates and decisions heading into the 2025 season, highlighted by the return of 10 players from the 2024 Eastern Conference Finalist squad.
Players already under contract for 2025: Leland Archer, Josh Drack, Aaron Molloy, MD Myers, Graham Smith, Mark Segbers and Zeke Soto.
Contract options exercised by the club: Nathan Dossantos, Arturo Rodriguez, Juan David Torres.
Contract options declined: Samuel Biek.
Players entering free agency: Chris Allan, Jackson Conway, Robbie Crawford, Daniel Kuzemka, Juan Sebastian Palma, Prince Saydee and Emilio Ycaza.
Adam Grinwis announced his retirement on Sunday, concluding a decade-long career in the USL and MLS for the Battery’s 2024 shot-stopper.
Jay Chapman will return to Hartford Athletic following the completion of his loan spell in the Lowcountry.
Nick Markanich is set to formally make his to Spanish LaLiga 2 side CD Castellón when the winter European transfer window opens.
“We have had an incredible two years at this club and we want to continue to build off our tremendous successes,” said Head Coach Ben Pirmann. “We are excited to bring these players back, as it is clear they are great footballers, and even better people. This group has laid the foundation for continued growth on and off the pitch. We want to continue to push for trophies, serve our community and altogether bring positivity to the Lowcountry.”
Additionally, the club thanks the players who are moving on for their contributions to the Battery during the run to the Eastern Conference Final and wishes them all the best in the next chapters of their careers.
