The Wahines are back and bringing more boards, more soul and more sisterhood than ever before to the iconic surf spot, the Washout, for the 24th annual Folly Beach Wahine Classic, hosted Saturday, July 25, through Sunday, July 26. Registration information can be found here.
The largest nonprofit women’s surf competition on the East Coast, and the only one of its kind in South Carolina, brings together a vibrant lineup of surfers of all ages and abilities. Drawing 250 surfers and their families, friends and supporters from across the nation, the Folly Wahine is more than just a surf competition. It is a celebration of the strength of surfer women, or wahines, through a weekend of surf competition, girl power and camaraderie.
The competition is free to attend, and spectators are encouraged to cheer on the Wahines.
Event donations support a wave of local ocean-based organizations, including Warrior Surf, Surfers Healing, Waves 4 Women, She’s On Edge, Charleston Surfrider and the Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network, among others.
Businesses and individuals can become sponsors of the competition and gain exposure in a spirited, community-driven atmosphere. Sponsorship and donation opportunities, along with benefits, are available at Folly Wahine.
