The Carolina Lady Anglers will host their 28th Annual Fishing For the Cure Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Charleston Rifle Club.
The annual tournament brings anglers and the community together for a day of saltwater fishing while raising money to support local breast cancer patients through After Care Essentials.
The Carolina Lady Anglers are seeking local businesses and individuals interested in supporting the tournament through sponsorships and donations. Proceeds will benefit local breast cancer patients, continuing the organization's longstanding commitment to giving back to the Charleston community.
The tournament is open to men, women and children of all ages. A captain’s meeting and registration will be held Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m. at the Charleston Rifle Club, 2221 Heriot St.
The tournament will take place Saturday, Sept. 26, with weigh-in scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Charleston Rifle Club. An awards ceremony will follow.
Adult entry is $40, while children 12 and younger can enter for $15. Registration includes a tournament T-shirt, bucket, dinner and beverages. The event will also feature raffles, a silent auction and an opportunity to participate in the tournament Calcutta.
Eligible species this year include king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, flounder, sheepshead, trout, ladyfish and dogfish. A mystery fish will be announced at the captain’s meeting.
Awards will be presented across multiple species categories, along with Outstanding Male, Female, Youth Male and Youth Female Angler awards.
Food will be provided by Swig & Swine, and Butch Martin will perform live music.
Last year’s tournament raised $20,000 for local breast cancer patients through After Care Essentials.
“We are so incredibly proud of our relationship with After Care Essentials and the opportunity to support local women affected by breast cancer,” Carolina Lady Anglers President Alicia Hart said. “We are also incredibly grateful for the sponsors, donors, anglers and community members who continue to make Fishing For the Cure possible year after year.”
Local businesses and individuals interested in becoming sponsors or donating to the tournament can contact the Carolina Lady Anglers at info@carolinaladyanglers.org.
