On April 26, 2025, the Lowcountry community will once again come together to honor the legacy of American hero Pat Tillman at the 21st annual Pat Tillman Honor Run, marking over 20 years of celebrating his dedication to his country and honoring his memory,
The 4.2-mile run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. at Credit One Stadium on Daniel Island, continuing a powerful tradition of service, sacrifice and leadership. It is suggested that all participants arrive at 8 a.m. to retrieve their race bibs and participate in all pre-race activities. The Pints for Pat afterparty will be held nearby at Viva Tacos & Tequila following the race.
The Charleston Honor Run holds special significance for veteran Joel Jackson, who founded the city’s only Pat Tillman Honor Run chapter in 2016. Since its inception, Jackson and his team have grown the event from a small gathering into the highest-attended Honor Run site nationwide. “This event is about more than just running—it’s about carrying on Pat’s legacy,” said Jackson. “He made the ultimate sacrifice, and we honor him by supporting future individuals who embody his values.”
Pat Tillman, former NFL star, left his professional football career to enlist in the U.S. Army following the attacks of September 11th, 2001. He served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan until his tragic passing due to friendly fire during an ambush in an Afghan canyon. His story continues to inspire generations, and this event—one of more than 40 Tillman Honor Runs nationwide—ensures his legacy endures. Proceeds directly support the Tillman Scholars Program, which empowers outstanding military service members, veterans and military family members through academic scholarships, lifelong leadership development and access to a global network of mentors and peers.
Billy Hall of Halls Management Group also shared his deep connection to the event: “Supporting the Pat Tillman Honor Run of Charleston is both a privilege and a cherished tradition. My time with the San Francisco 49ers introduced me to players who knew Pat personally, and their stories only deepened my admiration. We’re proud to contribute to a mission that uplifts our military community and future leaders.”
Following the run, participants are invited to Pints for Pat, the official afterparty hosted at VIVA Tacos & Tequila on Daniel Island—a chance to celebrate Tillman’s legacy with friends, family and the community. Runners and walkers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.
