"Where’s Nancy Mace?," a new website asks, urging the U.S. Congresswoman to hold an in-person, public town hall with her constituents in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District. They've also created a petition, demanding the same.
In the months since President Donald Trump's second term began, constituents of Rep. Nancy Mace have been increasingly vocal in requesting that she host in-person town hall meetings. Their concerns center on a perceived lack of direct engagement and transparency from their representative.
Rep. Mace has declined invitations to attend town halls organized by groups like the Lowcountry Accountability Alliance, citing safety concerns. She has also characterized these events as being driven by "left-wing extremists and paid agitators with a clear agenda," asserting that such gatherings are not safe for her, her staff, or her constituents.
Rep. Mace has held two events that she has called Town Halls - one was a question-and-answer session held over the telephone with no advance public notice, while the other was a closed-door event in a gated community in Beaufort.
The "Where's Nancy?" website says, "We are deeply troubled by Congresswoman Nancy Mace’s recent actions and her persistent avoidance of genuine public engagement. Her conduct not only undermines the principles of representative democracy but also raises serious questions about her commitment to the constituents she was elected to serve. This petition is therefore a call for Congresswoman Nancy Mace to host an authentic town hall meeting with appropriate advance notice for her constituents."
