Following a landslide victory by Democrats in a special election in South Carolina on Tuesday night, Lee Johnson (pictured), a Democrat running for the U.S. Senate against Lindsey Graham, released the following statement:
“Last night made one thing clear: Democrats can win in South Carolina,” Johnson said. “I’ve been hitting the road and I’ve seen the energy on the ground across our state. That energy showed up yesterday in House District 50. I was proud to support Keishan Scott and knock on doors to get out the vote for him. We’ll keep working to make sure that energy shows up next November.”
Democrat Keishan Scott (pictured below) won against Republican William Oden by 40 points (70.5% - 29.3%) on Tuesday night. For reference, former Vice President Kamala Harris won the same district by five points last year. She lost statewide by 18 points.
