COLUMBIA - Join legislators, advocacy voices, and community leaders at the Historic Mansion (1329 Blanding St, Columbia, SC) on Thursday, May 21 at 6:00 PM for Statehouse Unfiltered: an intimate end-of-session discussion reflecting on women’s healthcare policy, the legislative session and what proactive advocacy and engagement should look like moving forward.
Given the controversy surrounding South Carolina’s near-total abortion ban S.1095 and H.4760 which would have risked lives by reclassifying drugs like mifepristone and misoprostol - used primarily to treat miscarriage, hemorrhage, ectopic pregnancy and cancer - as as Schedule IV controlled substances, Thursday’s event is expected to be a critically important step to help organize against these continued attacks against women’s health and reproductive rights.
The event will feature a discussion with State Senator Tameika Isaac Devine and former State Senator Penry Gustafson moderated by Director of Public Affairs for SC Planned Parenthood Vicki Ringer. The event will be immediately followed by a private networking reception and mixer with invited guests.
Members of the public are invited and are required to RSVP by clicking here.
