“Today, we mourn the loss of an icon, a trailblazer, and a proud daughter of South Carolina—Angie Stone. Her voice was a gift to the world, and through her music, she told stories of love, perseverance, and the richness of our culture. From her roots in Columbia to her groundbreaking contributions in hip-hop, R&B, and neo-soul, Angie’s artistry transcended generations and touched millions.
“But beyond her music, Angie Stone was a beacon of pride for our state. She never forgot where she came from, always uplifting Columbia and South Carolina in her journey. She mentored, inspired, and paved the way for so many artists who followed in her footsteps. Her legacy is one of excellence, resilience, and deep love for the community that raised her.
