On Tuesday, South Carolina State Representative JA Moore (pictured) said he was threatened by a man with a gun in an incident near Park Circle in North Charleston.
While preparing to pick up his daughter from her first day of school, Rep. Moore began to pull into a parking spot when a black truck, driven by a white male that was approximately 60 years old, approached. The driver brandished a gun at Rep. Moore, an event he said left him profoundly concerned for the safety of his family and the wider community.
“First and foremost, I want to thank the officers who responded to this terrifying incident," said Rep. JA Moore. "Their quick action is appreciated, and it’s a reminder of the difficult and dangerous situations they face every day in keeping our community safe,” said Rep. Moore.
Reflecting on the incident, Rep. Moore emphasized the importance of transparency as the investigation proceeds and underscored the need for continued efforts to ensure the safety of all residents.
“My thoughts immediately went to my daughter and how different this day could have been," he said. "I was there to pick her up from her first day of school — a day that should have been filled with excitement and pride, not fear. The safety of our children and our community is of utmost importance."
