GREENVILLE, S.C. - South Carolina Senate Democrats are calling on the General Assembly to return for a special session focused on the financial pressures facing families across the state.
“South Carolinians cannot put their bills on hold until the next legislative session,” said Senate Democratic Leader Brad Hutto. Families are making difficult choices as the costs of housing, groceries, utilities, and health care rise. We should come back to Columbia, hear directly from the people affected, and work across party lines on solutions that provide meaningful relief.”
Assistant Democratic Leader Ronnie Sabbs said the urgency extends to every part of the state.
“Whether someone lives in Greenville, the Lowcountry, or a rural community, they deserve a legislature willing to address what it costs to live and raise a family,” Sabbs said. “Our working meetings made one thing clear: we have work to do now. A special session would give us the opportunity to put families’ needs first and turn that work into action.”
Senate Democrats are urging fellow legislative leaders to convene a special session and take up practical measures to ease household costs and strengthen economic security for South Carolinians.
