COLUMBIA, S.C. - Senate Democratic Leader Brad Hutto (pictured) today welcomed the conference committee's agreement on the Fiscal Year 2026-27 state budget, calling it an important step toward final passage of a responsible spending plan for South Carolina.
"Reaching agreement in conference committee is a significant milestone," said Senate Democratic Leader Brad Hutto. "While the General Assembly must still give final approval, this agreement moves us much closer to replacing the continuing resolution with a complete state budget. Our schools, state agencies, local governments, and the people of South Carolina deserve the certainty and stability that come with a fully enacted budget."
The conference report will now be considered by both the House and Senate. If approved by each chamber, it will be sent to the Governor for consideration.
