Ashley Painter, Democratic nominee for SC House District 117, was endorsed on Tuesday by Run for Something (RFS), a national organization that recruits and supports the next generation of progressive leaders for state and local office. The organization’s slate of newly endorsed candidates includes young, diverse progressives from across the country who are ready to lead in their communities.
“I’m not running because I want a political career," Painter said. "I’m running because families like mine are struggling, and the people currently in office aren’t solving those problems."
Painter is a former foster child who defied the odds and obtained a college education, which then allowed her to work in a professional capacity with families and children, providing therapy and adoption casework. Currently, she runs a small business while also being a homemaker and homeschooling her two children.
“Ashley Painter is part of a new generation of leaders working to move the needle forward on issues important to their communities,” said Amanda Litman, Co-Founder and President of Run for Something. “Run for Something is proud to back Ashley Painter as part of our latest class of endorsees who are standing up, challenging the status quo, and working to secure lasting change for their neighbors.”
