Mayra Rivera-Vázquez, a Democratic candidate for Congress in South Carolina’s 1st District, on Tuesday announced endorsements from March On PAC, Future Democrats PAC and state Rep. Michael Rivers of Beaufort.
Rivers represents Beaufort and serves as chair-elect of the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus.
March On PAC is a national grassroots organization founded by leaders of the historic Women’s March movement. The group works to elect candidates who say they will protect democracy, defend reproductive freedom, and advance civil rights and economic justice. Its endorsement signals growing national support for Rivera-Vázquez’s campaign and its focus on protecting fundamental freedoms.
Future Democrats PAC supports the next generation of Democratic leaders and works to build long-term governing majorities at the federal level. The organization prioritizes candidates who reflect the diversity of their communities and who are prepared to lead through coalition-building — qualities the PAC cited in backing Rivera-Vázquez.
In his endorsement, Rivers described Rivera-Vázquez as a proven community leader who has organized across Charleston, Berkeley, Beaufort and Dorchester counties. He highlighted her efforts to build multiracial, multigenerational coalitions and called her leadership style steady, inclusive and grounded in service.
Rivers also pointed to her ties to the Lowcountry and her focus on working families, economic opportunity, affordable health care and equal justice under the law. He said South Carolina’s 1st District deserves representation that reflects its diversity and future and called Rivera-Vázquez a leader who can move the district forward with integrity and unity.
Rivera-Vázquez said she is honored to receive support from leaders and organizations committed to expanding opportunity and protecting fundamental freedoms.
“This campaign has always been about building power in our communities — the right way,” Rivera-Vázquez said. “With the support of leaders like Representative Rivers and organizations fighting for democracy and working families, we are building a movement that reflects the very best of the Lowcountry.”
