Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., has marked a triple-digit milestone: 100 pieces of legislation introduced this Congress. According to her office, she ranks fifth among all 435 House members and has introduced more bills than any other member of South Carolina's House delegation.
However, none of those pieces of legislation has ultimately been signed into law. In fact, since joining Congress in January 2021, only one bill she independently sponsored has been signed into law: Public Law 117-288, an act to designate the U.S. Postal Service facility located at 213 William Hilton Parkway in Hilton Head Island as the “Caesar H. Wright Jr. Post Office Building.”
“Reaching 100 bills is a huge milestone, but it's not the finish line,” Mace said. “One hundred bills means 100 times we put pen to paper and said, ‘Here's the problem. Here's how we fix it.’ South Carolina sent us here to work, and we’re going to keep working until the job is done.”
