Ralph Prioleau, a Berkeley County native, public servant and community leader, has officially announced his candidacy for Berkeley County Council District 7.
Currently serving as the third vice chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party, Prioleau also serves as assistant dean of academic administration and assessment at the Charleston School of Law. Previously, he served four years as chair of the Berkeley County Democratic Party.
“This is home,” Prioleau said. “I’m not just running to represent District 7 — I’ve lived the experiences of the people here. I understand our challenges because they’re my challenges too. And I’ve spent my career working to make this community stronger.”
“Berkeley County deserves leadership that doesn’t need a learning curve,” Prioleau added. “I have done the work, built the relationships and understand how to navigate the systems that impact our daily lives. I’m ready to deliver real results from day one.”
Prioleau said his campaign will focus on "smart, responsible growth, improving access to residents’ basic needs, increasing transparency in local government and ensuring that every resident of District 7 has a seat at the table."
