On Friday, April 3, Rahm Emanuel will join the Charleston Peninsula Democrats for their “Progressive Pours” happy hour series. The event will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Union Station on King Street.
The Charleston Peninsula Democrats, a grassroots organization dedicated to educating and mobilizing voters across downtown Charleston neighborhoods, created “Progressive Pours” to “socialize voters historically disconnected from the party by hosting events that build a sense of community.”
Friday’s featured guest, Emanuel, brings decades of high-level political experience. He served as White House chief of staff under former President Barack Obama, playing a key role in advancing major legislative priorities, including the Affordable Care Act. Emanuel later served three terms as mayor of Chicago and most recently as U.S. ambassador to Japan.
The event is open to the public.
Union Station is located at 652-A King St.
