Planned Parenthood South Atlantic today endorsed Rev. Charlie L. Murray Jr. for SC House District 116. Rev. Murray released the following statement in response to the endorsement:
“Thank you Planned Parenthood South Atlantic for the endorsement for SC House District 116. As a husband and as a father of two young women, I believe extreme politicians have no place in the room with a woman and her doctor. We should also not deduce this to one single issue. In Columbia, I will fight the extreme bans on women’s reproductive healthcare and empower women to make their own healthcare decisions."
Rev. Murray has called the Lowcountry home all his life. He, his wife, and four children are residents of Ravenel. He is an ordained Pastor (First Baptist Church of James Island), businessman, and Funeral Home owner.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management, a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education and Master’s Degree of Divinity. He currently holds multiple positions locally and statewide that include the Sea Island Comprehensive Healthcare Cooperation Board, International Council of Griots with the IAAM, Board member for James Island Interfaith Action Committee and James Island Outreach, Morris College Board of Trustees serving on the Education and Business Committee, and is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
