The Lowcountry Solidarity Network is hosting a rally to "protest against fascism and the billionaire control of politics in the Lowcountry and beyond." During the rally, attendees will hear from multiple speakers from a variety of grassroots organizations.
"Both our federal and local governments are ramping up attacks on our immigrant neighbors, repressing our freedom of speech, allowing landlords to illegally inflate rent and repress wages, financing war crimes abroad with our tax money while defunding public schools, and pushing dirty development projects that threaten our air and waters,” said Max Sorgenfrey, member of the Charleston Democratic Socialists of America. “This is what happens when billionaires control the economy and the government -- our community has had enough and we are standing together on Saturday to fight back."
The organizers of this event will be bringing supplies to keep attendees safe and hydrated in the heat. All attendees are encouraged to bring personal supplies as they see fit. You can RSVP here.
