On Saturday, March 28, a 50501 People’s Movement event will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. in North Charleston. This protest is part of the No Kings 3 National Day of Action. Thousands of events are planned across the country, with 23 scheduled in South Carolina.
Previous 50501 protests in the Charleston area included one on March 4, 2025, at Hampton Park that drew a little more than 500 people. Since then, participation has grown. More than 3,200 people attended the Charleston No Kings 2 event on Oct. 18, 2025.
Organizers say these protests are in response to what they describe as “illegal, unconstitutional and inhumane actions by the Trump administration.”
No Kings 3 is being supported by civil rights organizations such as the NAACP and ACLU.
Tracey Tapp, a volunteer organizer for 50501, said, “We are at the point where we need massive, ongoing protests. The executive branch is corrupt, Congress is AWOL, and the Supreme Court is compromised. It is up to we the people to save our democracy.”
Organizers emphasized a commitment to nonviolence. They said all 50501 protests in the Charleston area have been coordinated with local law enforcement, permitted when required and peaceful.
