Democratic candidate for Congress in South Carolina’s 4th Congressional District Courtney McClain released the following statement today after news that the House Oversight Committee issued a subpoena to Attorney General Pam Bondi to appear for a deposition on April 14 as part of the panel’s Jeffrey Epstein probe.
On Wednesday, March 4, the committee voted 24-19 to subpoena Bondi. Rep. William Timmons, who currently represents South Carolina’s 4th Congressional District, voted against the subpoena.
The statement reads as follows:
"I firmly believe that the Epstein files should be released and that everyone implicated in those files should be investigated and prosecuted. By refusing to do so, even when ordered by Congress, Attorney General Pam Bondi has caused real harm to Jeffery Epstein’s victims, their families and survivors like them across America.
"Today’s subpoena is an important first step towards holding Pam Bondi accountable and, while I’m proud of the House Oversight Committee for taking that step and standing with Jeffrey Epstein’s victims, I am disappointed that Rep. William Timmons tried to stop it.
"You don’t get to say you’re fighting for justice then vote to hide the truth."
