Mac Deford, Democratic candidate for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, announced two upcoming town halls as part of his commitment to meeting voters where they are and hearing their concerns firsthand.
The first event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, at the Daniel Pointe Retirement Community in Daniel Island, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Deford will address attendees beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion.
The second town hall will take place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Suite One Sixteen in Moncks Corner, SC, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Special guest Berkeley County School Board member Jerald Borden will join Deford for a conversation about public education and community priorities.
“From the Coast Guard to the courtroom, I’ve spent my life serving and protecting people,” Deford said. “What I hear every day is that families are working harder than ever but falling further behind, while politicians in Washington play games that push our country closer to economic ruin. We need leaders who will put service above self, listen to the people they represent, and fight for policies that keep the Lowcountry strong and America secure. That’s the kind of leadership I intend to bring to Congress.”
Deford is a former U.S. Coast Guardsman and graduate of The Citadel and Charleston School of Law. He also holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He previously served as General Counsel for the Town of Hilton Head Island and as in-house attorney for the Town of Mount Pleasant. Deford lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife Caroline, their son William, and their two yellow labs, Beau and Duke.
