The Lowcountry Accountability Alliance released the following response to Rep. Nancy Mace’s accusations that the group consists of “paid agitators” and that the town hall flyer circulating is “fraudulent":
"To be clear, at no point did the Lowcountry Accountability Alliance ever suggest that Nancy Mace was attending the town hall being organized. Her constituents know better. We know she is too afraid to face her constituents because she understands that what she is doing in Washington is deeply unpopular. This town hall, which will be held at Mount Pleasant Town Hall and moderated by Town Councilmember G.M. Whitley, is not some radical idea—it’s a basic function of democracy. Instead of engaging with the people she was elected to represent, Mace resorts to fearmongering and false narratives to distract from her failure to lead.
Mace’s suggestion that she feels 'threatened' by a billboard calling for transparency and accountability is laughable. If a simple demand for an in-person town hall makes her feel unsafe, imagine how her own unhinged social media rants make everyday Americans feel. Her reckless rhetoric fuels division, yet she cries foul when confronted with the consequences of her actions.
The people of South Carolina’s First District deserve real representation—not a politician who hides behind press releases and social media tantrums. If Nancy Mace has nothing to hide, she should prove it by showing up and answering the tough questions. Until then, we will continue to demand accountability, because the Lowcountry deserves better."
