KJ Atwood announced today that he is dropping out of the South Carolina 1st Congressional District primary race and will instead run for the South Carolina House of Representatives in District 110.
“After thoughtful conversations with my family, supporters and community members, I have decided to run for the South Carolina House of Representatives in District 110,” Atwood said. “This decision comes from the same reason I entered public life in the first place: I want to serve where I can make a real difference for families, workers and small businesses who are being squeezed by rising costs and a government that too often feels disconnected from daily life. I believe District 110 is where I can be most effective right now, helping deliver practical solutions on affordability, accountability, infrastructure and the long-term future of our communities.”
Atwood added, “I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported my congressional campaign and encouraged me to step forward. Your belief in me has meant a great deal, and it gives me confidence to continue this work. I see this as a commitment to serve closer to home with the same values and the same urgency. I will be sharing more in the coming days about my priorities for District 110 and how we will build a strong, community-rooted campaign together. Thank you for your support.”
