State Representatives JA Moore (D-Berkeley), Marvin Pendarvis (D-Charleston), Deon Tedder (D-Charleston), and State Senator Marlon Kimpson (D-Charleston, right) today released the following statement in support of doctors and medical professionals:
“What we witnessed at the Charleston City Council meeting earlier this week was appalling. The hatred and harassment that doctors and medical professionals faced in that room was unacceptable.
We can disagree with each other without losing our civility. Shouting insults and going so far as to spit on someone who has a different view than you is barbaric and disgusting.
We need to lift up doctors and healthcare professionals in our community. We need to surround them with support and show our appreciation for the sacrifices they've made throughout this pandemic.”
