Jenna Arsenault, a Mount Pleasant resident and longtime mental health advocate, announced today that she is launching her campaign for South Carolina House District 112.
Driven by a lifetime of service, Jenna is running to bring empathetic, people-first leadership to the State House. She intends to show up, listen, and put people over politics.“I’m running because too many politicians are disconnected from those they represent,” Jenna said. “Our district deserves a leader that listens with compassion and advocates for change that helps real families.”
Jenna grew up in Wells, Maine, a small town where community and kindness mattered. After college and time spent in Seattle, she found her way to Charleston, which she now proudly calls home. She and her husband, Aaron, live in Mount Pleasant with their two sons. They are drawn to the area’s natural beauty and sense of connection.
Jenna studied sociology and psychology at the University of Maine and earned her master’s degree in social work from the University of New Hampshire. She later returned to school at Trident Technical College to become a registered nurse. She has dedicated her career to caring for others in behavioral health and home healthcare.
Jenna is a passionate advocate for mental health. She serves on the board of Postpartum Support Charleston, previously facilitated CircleMoms Charleston, and writes for Charleston Moms blog. She runs her own business providing postpartum doula care with an emphasis on maternal and infant mental health.
Jenna decided to run for office after years of frustration watching politicians ignore the needs of everyday people. Her commitment deepened after becoming involved in her local county party and joining Emerge South Carolina to learn how to make meaningful change.
Jenna’s priorities include improving affordability, strengthening public education, increasing access to mental health care, standing with women, addressing flooding and traffic, and building connections across party lines. When elected, she plans to remain accessible through regular community meetups, open office hours, and ongoing dialogue with constituents.
“What you see is what you get,” Jenna said. “I believe in honesty, transparency, and showing up. My leadership is rooted in community and driven by compassion.”
