Jason Belton, a community advocate known as a Democratic strategist and labor leader, officially filed his candidacy for South Carolina secretary of state on March 30.
As secretary of state, Belton said he would focus on:
- Empowering entrepreneurs: Creating resources and support for disenfranchised individuals to start and grow businesses.
- Strengthening election integrity: Ensuring fair and transparent elections while making voting accessible to every citizen.
- Community engagement: Encouraging participation in the democratic process to foster an inclusive environment.
