On Saturday, March 8th, Women's March will host "International Women’s Day: Unite & Resist," a rally/march in North Charleston's Quarterman Park (1126 Buist Ave.), The event will run from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Here are the details from Women's March:
"This is a peaceful, permitted assembly to protest unlawful actions by the Trump Administration to consolidate power in the executive branch - actions not granted by the Constitution and not approved by Congress. Actions which are authoritarian in nature and they harm women.
This rally/march is held on International Women’s Day and is a part of Women’s March. 101 years after first written, the Equal Rights Amendment has yet to be passed. The ERA — which would add a 28th amendment to the Constitution saying, “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex” has enough states (3/4th) to support passing it. Biden, a day before leaving office, he told the press he agreed it should be added to the constitution, but it was not. This comes at a time when women rights are in jeopardy with the confusion over the Save Act impacting married women voters as well as many more women’s issues.
As Gloria Stein Steinem has said, "Any woman who chooses to behave like a full human being should be warned that the armies of the status quo will treat her as something of a dirty joke...She will need her sisterhood."
