COLUMBIA – Governor Henry McMaster today issued Executive Order 2026-19 providing Charleston County School District Board of Trustees member Darlene Dunmeyer-Roberson (pictured) notice of charges and an opportunity to be heard pursuant to S.C. Code § 59-19-60.
On Jan. 15, 2026, Governor McMaster requested that the State Inspector General investigate the conduct of one or more members of the Charleston County School District Board of Trustees. The Inspector General submitted a report to the Governor on Aug. 27, 2026.
Based on the Inspector General’s report, the Executive Order provides Dunmeyer-Roberson notice of charges involving the disclosure of executive session material, unauthorized disclosure of confidential information, and a conflict of interest.
Under the Executive Order, Dunmeyer-Roberson must notify the Governor by Sept. 10, 2026, whether she intends to exercise her right to be heard. A three-member hearing panel will consider her response and the evidence and submit a recommendation to the Governor by Oct. 5, 2026, regarding whether she should be removed from the Charleston County School District Board of Trustees.
