Gov. Henry McMaster has issued Executive Order 2026-09 to reconvene the General Assembly for an extra legislative session to take up the General Appropriations Act, continue consideration of South Carolina’s congressional redistricting and address other matters. The session will begin Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11 a.m.
The executive order will remain in effect unless it is modified, amended or rescinded by a subsequent order.
McMaster has not reconvened the General Assembly for a special session since 2023, when he became the first governor since Jim Hodges to do so.
