Following Monday’s South Carolina Republican U.S. Senate primary debate, Dr. Annie Andrews, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, released the following statement:
“Tonight, South Carolinians heard a stage full of extreme, career politicians trip over themselves to prove who would go furthest in doubling down on reckless wars, higher prices, and a Washington agenda that is failing families across our state.
“No matter who emerges from this chaotic primary, my focus will remain the same: lowering costs, protecting access to health care, and giving South Carolina families a senator who puts them first – ahead of party politics.
“While they fight among themselves for Donald Trump’s approval, I’m fighting for the people of South Carolina and I’m ready to defeat whichever candidate emerges from this race.
“I am ready to debate any and all of them, tomorrow.”
The Republican nominee will be determined through an Aug. 11 special primary, followed by an Aug. 25 runoff if no candidate receives a majority of the vote. Andrews secured the Democratic nomination in June and will face the eventual Republican nominee in the November 3 general election.
