BISHOPVILLE, S.C. – Democrat Keishan Scott (pictured) won a landslide victory in the special election for S.C. House District 50 on Tuesday night, defeating Republican William Oden by 70.56% to 29.33% as of 8:50 p.m.
“I’m humbled by the trust the people of District 50 have placed in me,” Scott said. “This victory belongs to everyone who believes in a better future for our communities. Now I’m ready to get to work for the people of Lee, Sumter, and Kershaw Counties.”
S.C. House District 50 was previously held by Representative William Wheeler, a Democrat. At 24 years old, Scott will be the youngest member in the S.C. House of Representatives. Scott previously served as a city councilman in Bishopville.
“This is a great night for Democrats,” House Democratic Leader Todd Rutherford said. “Keishan proved what is possible when we organize and run a sharp, focused campaign—and his win sets the tone for 2026. I look forward to welcoming him to our caucus and working with him to make South Carolina the best that it can be.”
