Mac Deford, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, Lowcountry attorney, and Democratic candidate for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, announced that his campaign raised more than $100,000 this quarter — outpacing every other Democrat in the race.
His campaign said more than 84% of contributions came from South Carolina donors, with an average donation below $100.
“People in the Lowcountry are ready for serious leadership — not theatrics,” Deford said. “I’m grateful to every person who invested in this campaign because they believe that service means taking responsibility and getting the job done. This effort is about solving real problems for working families, veterans, and small businesses.”
Deford is the only candidate in the race who has held open town halls in multiple communities since announcing his candidacy.
“Our focus is on restoring trust in public service and finding practical solutions,” Deford said. “The strong response we’ve seen from Democrats, independents, and Republicans shows how much people want results over rhetoric. That’s exactly what I’ll deliver for them as the next congressman for South Carolina’s 1st District.”
As previously reported, on Oct. 29 and 30, Deford will be joined by former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, who most recently served as commissioner of the Social Security Administration. The two will host town halls in Charleston and Hilton Head Island to discuss economic issues and the future of Social Security.
