David Osborne, a candidate for 9th Circuit Solicitor, today responded to The Arena's Monday report that the current 9th Circuit Solicitor, Scarlett Wilson, dropped over 1,100 criminal charges against defendants because of a severe backlog and the inability to move cases through the system. Wilson called the practice “docket prioritization.” According to the reporting, 165 of these defendants went on to accumulate 498 new charges, including crimes like attempted murder, armed robbery, and domestic violence.
“Due to her neglect of duty, Scarlett Wilson started her own crime wave that is victimizing families in Charleston and Berkeley Counties,” Osborne said. “I will end Docket Prioritization on day one. I will enforce the law and keep our community and families safe,” he added.
