Conservation Voters of South Carolina (CVSC) today announced its endorsement of Brian Hill for the State House District 98 Special Election. Hill, a small business owner, maritime industry veteran, and longtime Coosaw Creek resident, has been a community leader for more than 20 years, investing in youth sports, mentoring young people, and advocating for access to parks, trails, and outdoor spaces that make Lowcountry life special.
“Brian Hill understands that protecting South Carolina’s natural resources goes hand-in-hand with strengthening our communities,” said Katie Hagain, SVP of Political Strategy at CVSC. “He knows that when families have access to safe parks, clean water, and outdoor spaces, our communities thrive, and he’s committed to intentional growth that keeps the Lowcountry beautiful and livable for generations to come.”
With more than 40 years in the maritime industry and nearly two decades as a small-business owner, Hill brings the kind of real-world experience and practical problem-solving that South Carolina needs in Columbia. He believes growth should pay for growth, and that road, drainage, and infrastructure projects must keep pace with development, not lag years behind it.
Since its founding, Conservation Voters of South Carolina has invested more than $2 million to elect conservation-minded candidates across the state. The organization works to build a bipartisan coalition of leaders who protect South Carolina’s air, land, water, and way of life.
House District 98 was previously held by Rep. Chris Murphy, whose resignation triggered this special election. While the district leans Republican, this race will be decided in the November 4 GOP primary. If no candidate receives a majority, a runoff will be held on November 18.
Early voting runs from October 20 - October 31, 2025 (Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., closed weekends and holidays) at Wescott Park, 9006 Dorchester Road in North Charleston. Voters waiting to vote on Election Day can vote at their typical polling location on Tuesday, November 4th.
CVSC looks forward to working with Hill to protect green space, improve outdoor access, and ensure families across South Carolina benefit from responsible stewardship of natural resources and development.
