The nonpartisan Cook Political Report has shifted South Carolina's First Congressional District toward a more competitive rating, citing Rear Admiral Nancy Lacore's fundraising strength as a major consideration for the increasingly competitive nature of the open-seat race.
In its latest analysis of House races across the country, Cook Political Report specifically highlighted Lacore as the only candidate in the Democratic Primary Runoff by name, pointing to her campaign's fundraising success and ability to compete financially in the general election.
"But the first-place finisher on the Democratic side, retired Rear Admiral Nancy Lacore, is a strong fundraiser, taking in $1.6 million since launching her campaign in January," Cook Political Report wrote. "She clearly has the donor network to at least keep pace with the GOP nominee."
"This campaign has always been about earning support across the Lowcountry and proving that voters are ready for a new kind of leadership," said Lacore. "We're building a broad coalition focused on lowering costs, protecting our freedoms, and delivering results for South Carolina families. Independent observers are recognizing what we're seeing on the ground every day: this race is competitive, and voters are ready for change."
